About
My name is Berry Langerak and I’m Dutch. This is my personal blog, although I’ll mostly write about stuff I find interesting: programming. As you might’ve guessed I’m a professional programmer and I’m working at a small company called Town QSP, located in Tilburg. I live in Rossum, which is a really small town in the Netherlands.
I’ve got a pretty good understanding when it comes to computers, math and the internet. I enjoy programming because it’s a profession in which you can be creative and create art. Although most people probably don’t see it this way, I tend to think that computer programming is an art form; the most beautiful art of computer science, to be more precise. My favorite language, as you probably noticed already, is PHP. I guess this is mainly because of it’s simplicity, while being able to craft beautiful, intelligent, enterprise ready software with it. Ah well.
When I’m not programming, thinking about programming, or writing about programming, I moderate the biggest PHP forum in the Netherlands, a community forum called PHPFreakz. In my own time, I enjoy hanging around with my friends, especially playing board games, such as Munchkin. Also, I’m regularly found hanging out at the local pub, trying to keep up a social life — of sorts.
When it comes to sports, I’m the worst kind out there: I like every sport that doesn’t involve moving, much. I’m a darts player (in competion, even), I play pool and I shoot (paper targets at the shooting range, that is) guns. Although not many people will be interested in this one, my favority weapon is a good old single shot rifle, because they’re just so bloody accurate.
That’s pretty much who I am and what I do. Oh, if you wish to reach me for some reason, you can e-mail at either berry webaddictz nl or berry phpfreakz nl. I trust you know where to put the at and full stop
Also, I frequent several IRC channels: ##pfz, ##phpc and #php_bnl on irc.freenode.net. I also twitter from time to time.
